This book is being released in August, and it looks a treat.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what it contains?
Is there a lot of repeated material from Tintin: The Complete Companion, The Adventures of Hergé: Creator of Tintin, Tintin & Cº, Tintin and the World of Hergé, or is most of the stuff new to English readers?

There are two more books to be released in the series.
Can't wait.

Anyone with more information feel free to share.
Thanks!

Hi,
I know the book very well, it's the same as the Dutch one that was published earlier this year.

It's a very shortened version of the Chronologies d'une œuvre, the big French milestone Philippe Goddin is writing.

There are five volumes now - and still only halfway through his life - each bigger and far better detailed than the three translated ones will be together.
Still, I can highly recommend it!
It's sort of a biography combined with a vast amount of unpublished items, forgotten treasures and beautiful photos of Hergé's works. From his very early childhood through his much celebrated career.

Thanks, sounds great.
As good as I've heard Philippe Goddin's big books are I don't know a word of French. Guess I'll have to make do with Michael Farr's translations.
Still it's much better than nothing.

Exactly my problem. I'm sure you won't regret buying these!

Hi Tintinrulz

The book is actually available now in English ! If you go to www.pinkbear.com.au and go to Books/special editions you will see it. It is the first of 3 volumes from Philippe Goddin's original, translated by Michael Farr into English. Volume 1 traces the artwork from 1907 to 1937 and the book includes a number of unpublished works. This is a great book and heaps of stuff not seen in any other books.

Cheers

I ordered the Art of Hergé vol.1 a few days ago after seeing it had been released on Amazon.co.uk and it arrived today (very nice it is too). I'm looking at the Amazon.co.uk page now and it says it's available for pre-order - not released until 23 Oct 2008. Strange!

We have it in stock and ready for shipping anywhere within Australia - go to www.pinkbear.com.au - you will see it under Books/Special editions. It is largely new material and is the first volume in English. Further English volumes will come and will eventually comprise the much larger French version. Cheers
