To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the arrival of Captain Haddock, Casterman have announced the release of a special edition of his debut story, Le Crabe aux pinces d'or (The Crab with the Golden Claws).
It features a vintage-style dark red binding-strip on the spine, and utilises an unused design for the cover by Hergé, showing Haddock, Tintin and Snowy crossing the desert.
In addition the book will contain an eight-page section on the making of the adventure.
It is released on the 10th of November, 2021.

Sadly there won't be an English edition at this time, but look out for Blistering Barnacles!, the forthcoming book of Haddock's curses, which will be the first major new release of a Tintin-related title from Farshore, the imprint of HarperCollins which now handles the series. It is available from th 11th of November, 2021.

Thanks very much for sharing this! I love the cover, it looks fantastic. I'm hoping it will come out in English at some point. With the colourised release of 1932 Tintin in America last year, it gives me hope they'll release some more editions of the canon at some point soon...

Sorry to revive another old thread but I received a copy of this at Christmas and wanted to add a few thoughts...

They say "don't judge a book by its cover" but I must admit the cover was the primary reason I wanted the book. The design has been used before – as a colour plate in the black and white version of the book - but it works fantastically well as a cover. I'd argue it's even better than the final one.

As to the content, we get the standard edition of the adventure with nothing different. I'm slightly disappointed that they didn't use the original colour version before they removed the black characters and drinking scenes. But I suppose this isn't necessarily an anniversary edition of the colour edition, rather than the adventure itself, and perhaps they didn't want to re-open that whole can of worms (or crab meat...?) However, it's printed on thick, quality paper and nicely bound. There are also 7 pages of history and detail at the back. Overall, a really nice volume for the price - on Amazon it's currently cheaper than the French language paperback and hardback volumes.

It means I now have more versions of this particular book than any other in the canon. There's the French language black and white book with the 4 colour plates (essential!), the recently(ish) released Le Soir version, the English first edition (with the black characters and drinking retained!), the Golden Press version edition (without them), the standard version colour version, etc... But then it is arguably one of the most important books in the canon.
