Tintin and the Picaros is well known for being the only completed Tintin book in which Tintin doesn't wear his plus fours at all. But which of the Tintin books apart from Picaros has the least number of pages in which Tintin is seen wearing his plus fours?

(As always, we're including the completed colour books only.)

Following recent questions' discussion threads, I hope this question has the right balance of head-scratchingness and straightforwardness to please eveyryone!

Tintin in America?

Nope, sorry Tintinrulz, though not a bad guess to get us rolling, as Tintin certainly loses the plus fours at various points in Tintin in America to wear both cowboy trousers and bell-hop's trousers - and we can't be sure he's got them on under that suit of armour either! However, he is seen wearing his plus fours in Tintin in America on pages 1 through to 16, then on pages 46 to 49, and then on pages 53 through to the end. And this totals to many more pages in which he's seen wearing his plus fours than in the book I have in mind.

So keep trying!

Destination Moon?

He seems to spend the majority of his time in overalls at the Sprodj research centre.

Another good but incorrect guess. He does indeed spend a lot of Desination Moon in the overalls, but the number of pages in which he isn't overalled, and can be seen wearing his plus fours, is higher than the number of plus-four-wearing pages in the book that I have in mind.

Explorers on the Moon, much in a space suit I think

No, sorry, jockosjungle. He is much in a spacesuit during Explorers on the Moon, but he spends enough time inside the spaceship (and enough of that time not wearing his overalls either) to clock up more pages where he's seen wearing his plus fours than is the case in the book that I have in mind.

OK then. I'm going to try The Shooting Star. Glancing at it last night it appears that Tintin spends over half the book in his flying suit combination?

Nice to see more people playing the quiz. It seems people have trouble answering even the most ‘straightforward’ questions ! :-)

In most of Congo, Tintin wears a colonial costume, as far as I can remember.
In the beginning of The Land of Black Gold, he wears plus fours for less pages than in Congo, then as of p.43 he wears trousers with no fold, which might be considered as non-'plus fours'.
