Hergé: Etterbeck bust of Georges Remi goes "missing"...

The Guardian reports (in a somewhat jumbled article) that a portrait bust of Hergé in the Etterbeck district of Brussels where he was born and grew up, has "disappeared".

After throwing out some red herrings about it having possibly been stolen, or removed by those protesting potential symbols of Belgium's colonial past, the piece goes on to say that they actually know what happened: the statue was removed by the local council after the protective box that was around it was damaged in what is being taken as an attempt to steal the bust to sell it (whether as a work of art, or - as sadly seems to have happened to multiple other pieces of historic metal work - for the scrap value of the bronze, it doesn't say).

Anyway, the bust is safe, and the council intend to reinstate it.

"All's well that ends well!" as they say!
