U.S.A. Releases: Confused by the different collections?

Newbie collector here...

I want to have the whole Tintin collection (USA releases only) but I'm confused with the different collection variations.

There are these soft covers, which are kind of hard to find for some reason. I heard they're being discontinued, not sure.

There are these nice 3-in-1 hard covers that are really cool but perhaps too small for me.

And now there are these new single story hard covers that I guess are in black and white. I'm not sure what this collection is all about.

Can anyone here clarify what's out there to collect for me? Thanks.

Hopefully this will simplify things for you, and anyone else collecting an American series.

Firstly, please refer to this list. It lists the complete - what we generally call - “canon” of 24 books in order from Tintin in the Land of Soviets to Tintin and Alph-art.

You should still, to date, be able to get everything from Tintin in America through to Tintin and the Picaros published in the US by Little Brown.

Out of the canon that still leaves three books which Little Brown haven’t published but Egmont (UK) have: Tintin in the Land of the Soviets, Tintin in the Congo (the colour version) and Tintin and Alph Art. These three are available in hardcover only. Note that this version of Soviets is the exact same as the black and white ‘facsimile’ version (see below) but with a different binding that matches the regular colour canon.

Finally there’s the ongoing black and white facsimile series which so far comprises Soviets, Congo, America, Cigars and Lotus all published in the US by Last Gasp.
