The Tintin Shop: The pre-cursor was - Pilates ??

Back in the 1970's after I had bought some Tintin books in Paris and Brussells - not having been able to find any in the UK, I discovered some tiny Tintin figurines in the window of a shop on Floral Street in Covent Garden - called Pilates?

The lady who ran the shop was a keen Tintin fan and had brought the figurines over from Belgium. I had found another enthusiast!! She sold mostly her own designed jewellery - I still have a catalogue from then. Then on one of my visits to London I discovered that the same shop had become The Tintin shop...

Does anyone know whether the woman who ran Pilates is still around ??

You of course mean Pilot rather than Pilates.

I actually used to work there for the lady you mention, Jane Taylor, back in the late 80s. As you say, they used to sell jewellery, belts and stuff and then hit upon the idea of getting a license to sell Tintin items. They later became the first official Tintin store; when I was there the Belgian store was only just about to open.
I'm not exactly sure when Pilot became The Tintin Shop, but it must have been the early or mid- 90s. I'm still friendly with Jane and she's still there!

Yes Pilot is the right name ! Old age- my memory isnt what it used to be...
Wow! That's great that Jane is still there - she was the very first person I ever met who was Tintin mad like me! If you see her mention that I asked about her - this was a long time ago tho.
She had just got her very first Tintin figurines from Europe.
