'Tibet' re-lettered, 'Flight 714' re-titled, what next?

Many readers were baffled by the recent substitution* of:
- the whole text of Tibet's in the same speech bubbles' space.
- the title Flight 714 by Flight 714 to Sydney in the same cover title's space.

A much more baffling change should happen sooner or later (for the centennial?)
Does anyone have an idea?
Just remember the weird spatio-temporelle virtualite* mentioned by Herge in The Alph-art (p.55) !

In another thread, Richard mentioned all the English Tintin versions had now undergone a typographical change, i.e. a substitution* connected with the TEXT written in the SPACE of the speech bubbles.
What should we expected next, in connection with the IMAGES' TIME of appearance, namely their transposition*?

To put it more simply, do you think images can be scrambled without interfering with their reading?

Personally i dont think it matters if they are retitled they are still the same book at then of the day.

I can’t see what you mean, to be honest; I remember a debate over the aesthetics of the Hyslop hand-lettering against the new digital font, so I suppose a preference for the old might lead to a bafflement of sorts as to why the change was made. However the reason given to us by Casterman was clear and straight forward, so apart from some regret it surely isn’t an issue any more?

More confusing is your reference to the “same speech bubbles” - the translations have always been in the same speech-bubbles, so if it was achievable before it certainly would be now, as the translations haven’t changed, and I am sure the element of being able to fit the text to the space was crucial in the design of the font. So what point are you trying to make?

Likewise the Flight 714 (To Sydney) thing - they managed to fit titles in before, and I am sure they could do it again.

I will judge your curious use of tense to be accidental, but I have to say that I have tried to make sense of this, and can’t see what you mean.

Hmm… well, I don’t think that actually clarifies it, as it neither seems to lead on from your point about the text and title above, nor does it seem to cover the gnomic utterance about “images’ time of appearance”.

You should offer some sense of working out of a position (like showing your working in maths) if people are supposed to be able to follow what you say, otherwise it just appears to be random effusion.

A genuinly baffling continuation of this typeface replacement.

On Tintin.com you can view an online edition of their clothing catalogue for summer '07. There's a couple of shirt designs featuring the Pachacamac, with the ship's name beneath - but in Hyslop's lettering!
