What's the difference between these two publishers? Without checking dates of the publications in the cover of all the books, it seems that Mammoth seems to have been the first publisher, before it changed to Egmont. Anyone know the difference?

No, Meuthen were the first English publishers with the 'real' English translations.
Then it was Magnet, then Mammoth and then Egmont.
All I know is that the Egmont editions are the ones with glossy paper and stiffer cardboard covers.

Mammoth was an imprint of Reed International Books Ltd, who used to publish the Tintin series. In 2000 (I think) Reed's children's list(which included classic titles such as Tintin, Winnie-the-Pooh) was bought by Egmont. Egmont decided not to publish any titles under imprint names and subsequently started publishing the books under Egmont.
