OK, so this is my first attempt at posting a trivia question. Please someone let me know if I've inadvertently repeated a previously-asked question!

I'm a musician, as my board name suggests, so here's a musical question: Give three instances of a main character in the books "playing" a musical instrument.

Bianca Castafiore and Mr. Wagner don't count, as making music is their job.

Good luck, and enjoy! :)

OK, I'll have a go...

The one I'm sure we recognise is Haddock "playing" the control desk like a piano in Destination Moon "And now the great virtuoso Haddocksikoff..."

I can also find Haddock attempting to "play" the monks Tibeten temple trumpet on Pg61 of Tibet

And Tintin actually succeeds in making and playing a form of trumpet to communicate with the elephants in Cigars

I suppose the last one may not count as Tintin seems to be quite proficient at the "jungle trumpet"
Watch out Miles Davis!! :-)

Nice job, Ranko!

Tintin does seem to be pretty good at elephant calls, doesn't he? The captain needs a bit more practice on the Dung (Tibetan Long trumpet), though.

In case anyone is interested, here are the names of the other Tibetan instruments in the monastery orchestra:

Right, Ranko, over to you!

And Snowy plays the Indian flute in Prisoners of the Sun (around p.44) !

To learn more about bone "quena" (Indian flute)
