When does Tintin forget a thing twice, but after the second time it doesn't seems to matter to him? The first time he just forgets. The second time it is the chain of events that makes him forget it. No clue is available about if he eventually ever remembers the thing he forgot.

Just book and general description of the thing and scene where this forgetfulness occur will do as an answer.

First one that comes to mind is Calculus' umbrella in "The Calculus Affair". He loses forgets it twice in Switzerland, once in the rubble of Professor whatever-his-name-is' house, and once again before heading to Syldavia/Borduria. Snowy digs it out of the rubble the first time, and then out of the lost and found *after* Tintin and the Captain have rescued Calculus.

Would that be what you're thinking of?

Sorry to say, but no. The umbrella is found and Calculus unscrew the handle. The thing Tintin forgets is (as far as is seen in the book) not remembered or returned to him.

Hi labrador,
My guess is Tintin's book he leaves behind at Professor Alembick's house at the beginning of King Ottokar's Sceptre. He forgets it the first time and as he goes back to retrieve it events conspire (he is following a lead to The Klow Restaurant) to ensure he forgets it a second time - and that's the last we hear of the book!
Is that it?

Ranko, you are absolutely spot on. Whatever happened to the book is still in the shadows. Over to you.
