IQ of Tintin

He is a fearless and brave adventurer, devoted his friends (do not hesitate getting in dangereous situations for them).

And what can be said about his intelligence?
Can we call him ‘genius’ looking the adventures of which he took place and solved the cases? Or has he got an inteligence degree some over average? (Let us say; 135-140)

As a fan, of course to hear Tintin as a genius, pleases me much. With your evidences (the ways of which Tintin solved the cases ) taken from adventures, can you make an evaluation for his IQ?

My IQ is 139, which qualifies for Mensa... *hmm, no need to mention that, thinks everyone else, he is just showing off isnt he?*

Actually, I think IQ measurments are suspect and I mistrust a system which labels people as 'clever' or 'thick'. Intelligence is a much more slippery, fluid notion than that. I can put myself forward as a prime example - despite my high score, I often get slightly lost in my home city (have terrible sense of direction) and am quite poor at maths (always get calculations wrong even if I understand the concepts), also I often overlook things which to others seem really obvious (maybe this is 'absent-mindedness' which seems to aflict people with high IQ?)

Having said that, I would say Tintin would have an exceptionally high IQ, say 150+

Haddock I would say around 115
Calculus is a total genius so maybe 170+ (but he also does stupid things!)
The Thompsons seem fairly dense, but sometimes so does Calculus... hmm.. still I'd say about 100 or less which is average.

definately agree with that. sometimes, when Tintin solves a case, I have to read it back and forth to fully understand what he's saying! By the way, my IQ is 137.
