Tintin's finances?

Forgive me if this has been discussed already, and I'm almost sure it has, but how can Tintin pay for all the adventures and the costs incurred therein?

Not to mention living expenses!... Before he moved into Marlinspike he paid rent to a landlady. I doubt he pays rent to Haddock because I doubt Haddock cares much for money after he discovered Red Rackham's treasure. Anyway...

I was just reading BLUE LOTUS and saw that Tintin is shuttling back and forth between China and India on oceanliners, and I got to thinking, that could be awfully expensive for a boy-reporter!

I sort of "get" that he's a reporter, but whom does he work for? Does he actually do any writing, or perhaps maybe he dictates his story over the phone?

Simple - the albums are Tintin’s reports, and he obviously benefits considerably from the great wealth which they generate. The first book has him being sent by his paper to Russia, so Soviets doesn’t need him to have money, but the money he makes from this book sets him up, and he continues to write and sell successful books for decades thereafter.

Oho, very interesting! He must have considerable down-time between adventures in which to write these albums, I assume.

I did not know Tintin was such an excellent artist. But he does continue to surprise me.

Now, if my charts were accurare, I agree with jock123. But there's evidence, if you watch Tintin in America VCD from Nelvana, the begining sequence shows Tintin writing a report on mob gangsters. At the end, he managed to track down the mob gangster and his report must have made tens of thoushands of dollars and i'm not joking. He may have saved some money into his bank account (if he had one). In Prisoners of The Sun, Tintin may have earned money if he accepted the gifts from the Incas (pg 58-59). There's one big problem, which was his motorcycle from Tintin and the Picaros. He may have bought the motocycle (Yamaha or Piaggo, i suppose) for himself.
