Tintin vs Poirot

Okay, there this guy I know, who is a little nuts. I asked him if he liked Tintin and than he said that Hercule Poirot was a greater Belgian than Tintin and he said one day he's going to buy the rights to Poirot and make a movie where Tintin is one of the suspects and Poirot is going to flush information out of him with his sword disgused a cane (this guy is has problems). I think it's silly to compare them, first off one was created by an Enlgish woman who was a novelist and short story writer and the other one was created by a Belgian man who was cartoonist. So they are made for different audiences, but they're both good guys and save the day!

I think you are perfectly safe here, as the film rights to Poirot are already taken - the David Suchet series covers that aspect, and they have no intention (according to a question and answer session at the NFT last year) of having any original stories commissioned, as they are still working through the original Christie tales!
