Thompson and Thomson: do they deserve their rank in the police

You guys know Detective Thomson and Detective Thompson, who is absent-minded and clumsy but owns the rank of top detectives. Do they really deserve their ranks?

To me, what bulderdash is that? They as top detectives? Well, maybe in the police academy, they maybe the laugh of the camp but I don't understand why they are top detectives? Blistering Baboons!

Well, your views on this, please?

Class society?

Really donÂ´t know if police force has ever/anywhere paid attention to such things, but I think they have upper middle class (probably not gentry, but that is also a possibility) background and hence went to best schools. Their rank in the society should probably give them a better place, but due to their inability they are sliding down the ladders.

I don't know, did Inspector Clauseau deserved be considered a national hero in the Pink Panther movies?
